André Manoukian's show "Château!" filmed in Sully-sur-Loire!
10 March 2025
There are castles that arouse interest, curiosity and emotions. The production team of the show "Château!", brought to the screen by André Manoukian, made no mistake in choosing Sully-sur-Loire for their filming.
The idea of highlighting the site through a fifteen-minute report appealed to us. Presenting three sequences, three facets of our castle, three windows open on our history and our heritage; the report took us from the main courtyard to the top of a tower of the castle via the richly decorated Petit Salon.
You too can follow our adventure of a day ... in the footsteps of André Manoukian at the castle of Sully-sur-Loire!
From the courtyard of honor...
Mathieu, our historian and archivist of the castle, an inexhaustible storyteller, took André Manoukian on a journey through the history of the castle. Closely linked to the history of France, that of Sully-sur-Loire has rubbed shoulders with the names of Joan of Arc, Charles VII, Francis I, Louis XIV and Mac Mahon, without forgetting the turbulent Voltaire who stayed at the castle several times in the 18th century. A turbulent life from 1395 to the 20th century, when one of the most illustrious owners of this place was Maximilien de Béthune, otherwise known as the "Duke of Sully", who bought the building in 1602. Architecture of the buildings, life of this or that character in the Middle Ages, the 17th century, the 19th century, ..., and anecdotes; Mathieu was able to go back in time during his story.A well-executed shoot
All of Mathieu's words and André Manoukian's questions were captured by the production team staff. Boom microphone, cameramen, production assistant, production manager... all were in tune to successfully complete this filming. Only one take for the sequence of the castle's history, all in a good mood.Discovering the interiors...
Then Mathieu led André Manoukian inside the castle. The idea was to present a significant fact, an important anecdote. That of Mahaut de Béthune seemed obvious. The last private owner of the castle during the 20th century, her portrait sits in pastel above the bed in the Petit salon. The story of the search for the treasure in the castle, the sale of the furniture and the building between the 1940s and 1960s, the attempted purchase of the castle by Charles Trenet and finally the purchase by the Department of the building in 1962. This complete anecdote will be found in the report which should be released in May 2025.What if we took a step back?
Then it was Elise's turn to accompany André Manoukian and his team to an unusual place. As a heritage mediator, she suggested we visit a place still closed to the public: the top of the Tour de la Sange. After climbing 80 steps, this space is filled with emotion. Something emerges in what is called in some sources "the winter salon". With an almost 360° view, under a medieval frame, this space captivated its audience. An unusual place for an unprecedented filming at the castle.A shoot that was followed by our Communications Department...
Our colleagues from the Communication Department of the Loiret Department were also present during this filming. In the image, @Sébastien_Meurs, web journalist, followed each step of this filming for 4 hours. In order to immortalize this, photos and videos were taken to promote the actions carried out by the Department in the castle of Sully-sur-Loire.A shoot that ended on...
... the roof terrace of the Artillery Tower. With this breathtaking view of the medieval keep in the background, the filming of the show "Château!" ended as it began, in a good mood. The end of the shots and sound. Now it's time for editing and then broadcasting, probably in May 2025. We will keep you informed! Thanks to the entire production of the show for this filming.Share on your social networks :
